Archive for January, 2011
It seems like a very short time ago that Linda and I were introduced to Ted and Denise, 2004 if my memory is correct. However, time does fly and we reach a milestone in Ted’s life, sixty years young.
From the time we met this wonderful couple we knew both were very special; as a married couple, faith walkers and genuinely concerned about others.

The tea rooms and the whole first floor of the Queen Anne Tea House and Special Events Center has had aromas of Comfort Chef Linda Ballard preparing for tomorrow and Sunday’s demonstration in “The Art of Soups, Stews and Slow Cooking.” The topic is very timely as we deal with days of cold weather, reminding us how soups, stews and slow cooking is just appropriate for the month of January. I can assure those coming that they are in a treat as I have tasted many of the things being prepared and they are wonderful.
When we began our blogs we were encouraged by the blog service providers to present our communications in a personal manner. Not a problem for me as there is nothing that happens at the Queen Anne that I am afraid to share. Yesterday was a prime example.
We had two ladies dining in the parlor/our victorian styled tea room, for afternoon/lunch tea. It is a warm, bright room that Linda has decorated with treasured possessions of the family and our limited travels.
“NEW” Options for Valentines celebrations.
When we were planning the 2011 Valentines Special Events we focused on Monday night, 2/14 and Sunday brunch, 2/13. We didn’t even consider a Valentines Option Package for Saturday, 2/12 or Sunday, 2/13 (just goes to show it is impossible to guess what is right, smile.) In fact, we have received a request for a Valentines Sweetheart Dinner on 2/19, as the family can’t get together any sooner.
While the traditional Valentines date, 2/14 appears to be on it’s way to being sold out: 10 reservations left; the Sunday Brunch and Saturday/Sunday Valentines Sweetheart High/6 course Dinner Teas have openings.

Last weekend we were honored to serve two couples and spend some time with them, at the conclusion of their High Dinner Tea.
They told us they appreciated coming to the Queen Anne as they felt at home and weren’t rushed. They said they felt like part of the family, which we felt was the highest of compliments.
We began this sojourn almost a decade ago and the purpose was to move from being “consumers,” in the world; to being “servants to the world.” I know that sounds odd as being consumers is exactly what all company’s desire of their customers, so to move away from that paradigm just doesn’t fit; unless, you believe you are called to be something more than a business.
