Special Events: March, April, The Cañon City Queen Anne “Fine Dining,” Tea House and Antiques/Tea Treasures Store
Dear Valued Customers,
- Thank you, for another “Special” Valentines season. The Father/Daughter and the Mother/Daughter, Son Afternoon/Lunch Teas were a success and the 5th Annual Valentines Sweet Heart High/6 course Dinner Tea was once again sold out, with a ton of prime rib, filet mignon steaks and salmon served to a bubbly crowd.
44 years ago, 2/17/68, Linda Ann Brenning of 3019 So. Steele Street, Denver, CO and Little Allen (Al) Chapman Ballard of 2404 Jay Street, Edgewater, CO were preparing for their wedding.
Linda’s mother was asking her if she was sure this was the right guy and Al’s buddy’s were making fun of him, being that he was one of the first of the group to get hitched.
Fast forward to 2/17/12, Linda, Al are on Medicare and wondering where all those years went.
What I am sure about, Linda is a “saint” to have put up with me for 16060 days, 385,440 hours, 23,126,400 minutes, 1,387,584,000 seconds.
Cancer. Just the one word changes a life, family, friends and everyone around the individual. For our family the word arose a week ago and became a nightmare on Tuesday evening.
Brian McGee is our son’s, brother-in-law, he’s 48 years old and as of this past Tuesday surgery he has been informed that cancer is in almost all of his internal organs. We were praying for a kidney tumor to be removed and healing to begin. Now, we are told he has stage four cancer, with four to six months of life.

Fourteen couples participated in the 2012 Valentines dinner, traveling from different parts of the state and reporting our annual event received media attention this year.
Different than previous years we only had one seating at 7:00 p.m., which did not rush our customers. We found it easier to manage and customers happy in not having to be rushed.
The ladies were beautiful as ever and it seems Valentines is a holiday where wearing red and dressing up is perfect; the men knew that they had done a good thing, in coming to the sweet heart dinner tea with their loved one (especially when they saw their filet mignon, prime rib or salmon.)
