Yesterday I wrote on paranoia and Linda thought I had gone nuts, however, the beginning was truthful; there is paranoia in running a small business and especially one that is so dependent upon customers returning.
However, with every sense of paranoia there is a balancing mechanism called “Joy.”
Some people find joy in money, investing, watching it grow, receiving a sense of control and security.
Some people find joy in power, positions overseeing, directing others, being in control and having authority.
Some people find joy in risk, doing something that challenges them emotionally, physically, receiving a rush when the fright is done.
And some find joy in serving others, which brings me to our Joy. A huge part of our forty-four years in marriage is watching my dear wife, Comfort Food Chef Linda, serve me, the family and now others at the Queen Anne.
People our age, arriving at Medicare, are looking to consume and be served, as most of us feel we deserve it, due to our surviving all these years.
Linda and the Queen Anne are at the opposite side of that equation; we desire to serve others and have joy in seeing them have a memory created or a time which they can share.
This isn’t always easy for me as I am gifted with seeing some people never understanding the value in being served; they just see it as a duty put on others, per their desires. It is painful sometimes when I see my dear wife treated less than honorably and then I have to remember, she has the gift of hospitality and I have the gift of encouragement (when I can’t encourage due to someone not wanting to be encouraged, I am lost; Linda just continues on with hospitality, even when it is not appreciated.)
Joy, knowing where you are, accepting that point in time and finding the best in all situations.
If you have a couple of minutes check out this link, a story of a father and son, having joy and sharing it with others,

Have a great, joyful day (paranoia is over, smile.)
