This Saturday will be the second in a series of ethnic baking/cooking demonstrations held at the Canon City Queen Anne.
With Comfort Food Chef Linda Ballard being half German and half Italian these two events are dear to her heart as it brings back her learning these recipes from her mother and relatives.
We have held these events for the past two years and they are well received as the attendees get “real, authentic” ethnic recipes and they get to watch them prepared, as well as taste them.
Linda and I took the opportunity to be with family, friends, during this past weekend, in Denver, Loveland and Arvada.
As a couple entering each day with a desire to serve customers at the Queen Anne we anticipate the best and accept the worst. We don’t open the door with the goal to become wealthy as operating a fine dining restaurant the margins are very thin; it is a daily desire to see others enjoy themselves and as dear friends told us, create “Moments of Magic.”
Linda, I have been surrounded by family, friends, customers, with health issues and now we are caught up in our own.
When your health is fine or even marginal the attention to medical professionals is very limited and then when you or someone close begins to deal with a significant health issue the first thing that happens is you turn to “prayer religion,” real quick. Pray religion is that thing which lingers in the back of the mind of faithful and even non-believing people. You kind of know it is there, as you casually say, “we will be praying for you…” but the daily priorities keeps the prayers secondary.
