Emotionally exhausted, physically tired and extremely grateful for answered prayers, we went to bed last night with a renewed joy for God being in control.

It is harder today, than in previous times, to share a faith in God, as there are so many who claim a faith, and then see hypocrisy in the way the faith community lives; not accept others with different opinions; or not showing a desire to have the rare commodities of “peace, joy, faith and trust.”

As Linda and I watched the drama unfold, late last night; the capsule being tested, the stress on the faces of those working to free the men; the courageous volunteers who went down into the mine; the encouragement of the president, his wife, there was a sense that there would many stories to be told and it beginning to happen.
Watching the first pictures of the capsule arriving in the mine; the volunteer greeting the miners; the instructions being given and then the successful arrival of the first miner, who was physically well, brought us to tears and then reminded us that many things can be done, when people join together.
As I awoke this morning, to the news of additional men being rescued and my quiet time to begin the day, I was struck with not only the faith stories that will be told, but how “unity,” and a positive outlook can bring others together. It is my hope and prayer that those in America, who see others who may oppose their desires, see them as someone as important as their desires. It has been many years since we have seen a unified nation and we are polarized more today than in any time since the civil war; may we see unity as a goal, not only our agenda or desire to get back into control.
Hooray for the world, the support of the world, including America, in seeing the miracles happen in Chile; may it be a lesson for all, may we unify vs combat or try to have our way all the time.

They arrive at our door, some with joy in lives, some with burdens of the world or personal needs/challenges.

It’s never easy to determine where they are coming from, these customers who have elected the Queen Anne as their choice for Afternoon/Lunch Tea or High/5 course Dinner Tea. So, we have to be part time, pastor/priest, hair dresser/barber and listen for the clues.

All need hospitality and encouragement, which we are extremely grateful to provide. Most need a time, with others or with us, if they are the only customers, to unwind, relax and try to find enjoyment or an ear to hear their complaints, opinions.

Finishing up last Saturday night we were touched, again, with a week of couples coming to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays. what a treat to see celebrations and be able to serve others.

We completed a month of Steak Fry’s and are entering our second month with attention and focus on the offering of filets, new york strips, rib eyes and the sampling of “ol ray’s steak sauce.” in most cases, due to the Scanga meat being so excellent, our customers haven’t used sauces, “once they cut into and taste the meat.”
