Our new couples tutoring class, “Becoming Great Hosts,” was a featured story in the Colorado Springs Gazette newspaper, wednesday, 4/6/11; thank you teresa farney.

The goal is to expand our baking/cooking demonstrations into a new service; “helping couples learn to serve fine dining.”

We believe anything a couple does, that unites them, increases their love for each other and their marriage, so that is our goal and purpose.
We have learned how valuable it is to serve others, including loved ones, family, friends and business associates; no one forgets a memorable fine dining experience.

With our pilot training class two days away Linda and I are working on the completion of the program handouts. Also, with a purpose to help a couple learn how to prepare and serve one (1) fine dining meal it still requires time in providing valuable handouts, which will help the couple to be successful.
Our rationale for offering this program, Becoming Great Hosts, is the awareness that a lot of couples want to work together and provide fine dining for their family, friends and business customers. There is nothing like the experience of serving a multi-course meal and watching others enjoy their time, experience.
The questionnaire, see below, is a beginning document that focuses Linda and me in preparing specific handouts for the couples desires. We will provide our couples with 1) a meal planning guide/an instrument to help them, in advance, to determine what they will be serving; 2) a shopping list designed around their fine dining meal option, taking away the fear of missing something for the meal preparation; 3) a preparation and serving pert chart (list of activities in a chronological order,) which will lower stress for the one responsible for the kitchen and the one responsible for the serving duties.
Yes, this is a program designed for a couple to serve others; then sit down and enjoy their company. We have learned how important it is to serve others, allowing them to enjoy their time, then getting the opportunity to share with them. It is an unusual concept, however, one that a couple will treasure, once they have done it.
Back to handouts, only two days until the pilot program.

After two years of monthly Baking/Cooking Demonstrations, where we have heard couples wanting one on one tutoring in preparing and serving a fine dining dinner, we have completed our pilot offering,
see http://www.thecanoncityqueenanne.com/newbecominggreathosts.html

We will pilot the program 2/25, with a couple from our customer list, and see how the concept works out.

There is a system and flow in serving multiple course dinners and we hope we can help others learn how to be comfortable in serving family, friends, business associates.

January flew by and February will have more special events and opportunities to serve customers with fine dining. The following is our email to a customer base of approximately eight hundred past customers.

Subject: NEW!! Special Events at The Canon City Queen Anne Tea House; WIN a High/5 course Dinner Tea; SAVE on Afternoon/Lunch Teas

Dear Queen Anne Customer,

Here I sit in front of my decade old laptop, which is used for almost all of the Queen Anne correspondence and website updates, pondering how to assemble a calendar of special events email that will be interesting to our customers who have graciously allowed us to communicate via email. It is a monthly challenge as we do not want to burden our customers; however, we do hear that the email is read and they appreciate knowing what is going on.
