Recently we had a couple for high/5 course dinner tea who had lived in Canon City over thirty years ago.
As with most customers we spent time detailing our decade journey in finding the Queen Anne, the remodeling and opening of the fine dining facility. They remembered the old house but it did not stick out like it does today; with it’s wrap around veranda, color schemes (mrs. linda the interior designer touch,) and landscaping.
The Canon City Queen Anne Antiques/Tea Treasures Retail Store opened September 6th and we have had a new consignor each week since the opening.
Each consignor brings flavor to the diversity in offerings with well over three hundred items for sale in the store, at this time.
Each consignor has shown up with a passion to offer their treasures in the Queen Anne environment, a place where people come to be served “Fine Dining,” on fine china; in a relaxed atmosphere of beauty and charm.
They arrived at our door on Saturday morning, September 24, 2011, two smiling faces who traveled from metro denver to spend a day with Linda and me; bring us consignment jewelry.
It was such a joy to be together, share meals together, walk the downtown of historic Canon City, photograph the amazing spiritual artwork which they consigned with the Queen Anne.
The one of a kind necklaces are created from many forms of jewelry and antique brass, however, the most important part is the tags which bring short, meaningful biblical scriptures to the individual wearing it and those who read the inspiriations.
As Linda and I contimplated the concept of expanding our entry way antique/tea treasure exhibits in the tea house we faced a decision as to the value to the “Fine Dining Experience.”
The loss of one of our tea rooms, the Old Country Kitchen, was the next concern as we have customers who traditionally reserved the room due to it’s charm and history.
However, the reality that an individual’s experience at the fne dining establishment kept coming up and the extension of the time in their experience has been confirmed by recent guests.
Fine Dining is becoming a lost art as most everyone is trying to pack in more activities during a normal day, especially if they are visiting a small town like Canon City, CO.
However, as I tell the men, who are brave enough to bring their loved one to a Afternoon/Lunch or High/5 course dinner tea, the time spent in enjoying each other’s comfort, the fine food, the atmosphere and now the antique/tea treasure shopping experience, all combine into something a fast food will never be able to do; “Create a Memory.”
Very few things today create lasting memories, things to cherish and a dedicated time with another person, or group, is a lasting memory to share for all days.
Check us out, www.thecanoncityqueenanne.com, reservations necessary as we prepare every single meal, individually, there is no assembly line in the Queen Anne kitchen. 719 275-5354
