Host/Owners, The Canon City Queen Anne

Aged, but maybe not mature...

Recently we had a couple for high/5 course dinner tea who had lived in Canon City over thirty years ago.

As with most customers we spent time detailing our decade journey in finding the Queen Anne, the remodeling and opening of the fine dining facility. They remembered the old house but it did not stick out like it does today; with it’s wrap around veranda, color schemes (mrs. linda the interior designer touch,) and landscaping.

Thank you for your business. Please mention us to others and join us in the near future.

queen anne tea room 03 15 2010Beginning Sunday, April 18th, the Cañon City Queen Anne Tea House will provide a monthly Fellowship Brunch to help fund charities.

“We have always tried to find worthwhile activities where the Queen Anne can support charities and non-profit activities,” said Al Ballard, co-owner of the tea house which has been in business for two years. It has been our honor to hold fund raisers for our local history museum, as well as other needs. We have an upcoming fund raiser for the YMCA feasibility study effort in Fremont County (http://www.thecanoncityqueenanne.com/516ymcafundraiser.html) however, we wanted to find something that we could do each month when the weather permits, so guests can enjoy the tea rooms or the veranda, while supporting charities. The concept of a monthly brunch, where a portion of the funds received can be forwarded to a charity fits that goal well.

Our 100+ year old tree, a fixture at the Queen Anne, which was hit by lightning last year, will be taken down by the City, this spring. While the loss of the shade is one thing, the loss of the picture framing of the structure is the worst. We have many tourists driving by, stopping and taking pictures of these two fine old victorian homes and our historic trees framed the Queen Anne pictures. The important part, taking it down will assure it will not fall into the house, veranda and it is dead at the top, dying at the bottom.
We will just have to find a new photo opportunity; oh, so we hear some people saying, “do a computerized, musically driven window light show,” ok, we are working on one. :)
